What's on my Christmas List 2013

Hey everyone! Since it is that time of year I thought I would share what's on my Christmas list

1. Fujifilm Instax Mini 8
I have always loved Polaroid cameras and these are just so cute and I have wanted one for a while now!
2.Naked3
What kind of makeup loving girl would I be if I didn't want one of these? I am obsessed with the rose tones and need to get my hands on this very very soon

3. iPod Classic
I am a huge music lover and my 16gb iPod nano is slowly dying on me and these babies can have a lot of space on them and will fulfill all my needs

4. Steve Madden 'Troopa' Combat Boots
These have been on my wishlist for a few months now and I can't help but stare every time I see them in a shoe store. They are the perfect combat boots.

5. Our Moment
Since I am totally and completely obsessed with One Direction, it is obvious that this is on my list. I tried one of the samples while I was in the mall the other day and it smelt so amazing.

6. A Good Camera???
Something I really want to do for 2014 is really get on board with my blogging (and other projects) and in order to do that, I really need a camera. I'm going to be writing a post with some of my goals in the near future but all I know is that 2014 is a year that I want to be life changing and I want to make something of myself and I hope that there will be people to stand behind me to see me succeed.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and let me know whats on your Christmas list!

Pass it on: A post about self love and not looking like a model (but also not bashing models because that isn't cool)

Tonight I sat in front of my TV to watch the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. This was the first year I had watched it while it was televised or really been interested in it. Last year I saw a video on YouTube of the 2012 fashion show and it made me realize that it is SO much more than skinny girls walking around in lingerie. It's a production that takes nine months to plan and needs a team of 26 make up artists, 22 hair stylists and eight manicurists. This is an event that they work for all year long and the one night where they get to show an entire room of people everything they've got. And they own it.

On Twitter before, during, and even after the show, people were just assuming that these models are just pretty faces with perfect bodies and no brains. It's part of their lives to look the way that they do and they work their asses off  and deserve respect. I'm sure it isn't easy to do what they do for a living and they probably do have their own struggles but there is no need to dehumanize them. Adriana Lima wanted to be a doctor, and got into modeling by mistake and stuck with it, Miranda Kerr (possibly one of the most beautiful woman on the planet in my opinion) was a gymnast as a child and got into modeling when she was "too tall" to go any further, Erin Heatherton almost turned down a modeling contract for a basketball scholarship and Lindsay Ellingson was going to UC San Diego before being scouted. Not one of these women had set out to be models.

Another thing that I am bothered by is the amount of people who were claiming that the models "too skinny" and need to eat something and it made me really angry. Not everyone is built to be a model, it isn't in everyone's genetics. But saying that someone is too skinny is just as bad as saying someone is too fat. Sometimes it is out of their control, it can be genetic or they could have a fast metabolism. Bashing them for being thin won't solve anything. When they are dieting, they do it in a healthy way. Adriana Lima goes to a nutritionist before beginning a strict 6 week diet consisting of a gallon of water a day and several protein shakes as well as taking vitamins. She does not just starve herself to look that way. The average VS model is 5'9 - 5'10 with the measurements of 34-24-34. And not all of the models are sizes 0 or 2. Doutzen Kroes is a size 6 but nobody hears about that. These woman live a healthy lifestyle with a good diet and exercise, they work for what they have because it is their jobs.

I think that people get so caught up in all that, they forget to appreciate themselves and their own bodies. I am 5'3, I weigh around 130 pounds and I will never be a model and I am perfectly okay with that. I am learning how to love my body but it doesn't mean I don't have those days when I want to rip my hair out and cut the fat off my thighs. I take a minute and relax, I tell myself that I am only human, this is the way I am built and I should be okay with this. I go for an apple instead of kettle chips (I do love me some kettle chips though). I know that if i want to change something about my body that it is up to me and only me.

The point is, if you don't like something about your body, its up to you to change it in a safe, healthy way. And if you're happy with who you are and how you look, more power to you. We all need to remember that we are all human, we are all built differently and we need to love ourselves first. There is no harm in looking in the mirror and telling yourself that you are okay with the way you look. You will always have those bad days where your jeans don't fit right or your hair isn't cooperating but love yourself anyways. Tell yourself that you have nice eyes or a cute butt. Appreciate your boob size. Find an outfit that makes your body look killer and wear it whenever you are feeling down. Don't be afraid to eat a doughnut, but at the same time it's okay to want to try a juice cleanse or a new diet for a little bit. Do whatever makes yourself feel good.

Love yourself.
Pass it on.

I <3 Sweaters

I just wanted to share some cute mirror selfies I took in the change room of Forever 21 on Friday while I was shopping for some new sweaters
The first one (which I bought) is plan black, knitted with a white X on it. I thought it was cute, plain and simple and would be a wonderful addition to my fall/winter wardrobe and I can't wait I style it.
The middle one is grey and says Boy Los Angeles (much like Boy London), I did not get this but I plan to order it very soon
The last one is my favourite that I bought. It's a super warm white crewneck with Minnie Mouse's head with a gold chain around it.

I hope to write more posts like this in the future!

Tattoo?!

So as I said before, I was going to make a post to talk about my forth and newest tattoo and here it is!

Bit of a back story:
1. It is a daisy, my favourite flower
2. It is inspired by John Green's novel Looking For Alaska, which is my favourite book of all time
John Green is my favourite author and I had been thinking for a while now that I wanted something to show my love and appreciation for him and his works. I wanted something simple, but couldn't put my finger on what exactly I wanted.
3. While in my last semester of high school I read Looking for Alaska five times. It was my safe haven. I felt like I could relate a lot to the main character, and I longed to be more like Alaska Young. She was reckless, beautiful and just didn't care much, which was the complete opposite of what I felt I was.

XO Jess.

Tuesday's Quote

This is a find from "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" by Rachel Cohn and David Levathan. I came across it while reading (will review when I'm finished!) and it was one of those things where you have to stop and re-read it and think about how relevant it is to your life. It felt like the passage was taken from my own brain, that's how it made me feel.

Man Candy Monday

This is the long awaited return of Man Candy Monday! For this week, We are going to look at the one boy who has the ability to break my heart over and over again while being a fictional character.  Who, you may ask? Take a look after the jump!

I HAVE RETURNED!

If any of you are still reading this, I want to say HELLO and apologize for my hiatus (not as long as the Fall Out Boy hiatus, so be relieved). I have been busy just living my life, building up experiences, and thinking of what the future will hold for this blog.

So I will start off by re-introducing myself (again), My name is Jessica. I am nineteen years old and I live in Ontario, Canada (about an hour north of Toronto). I am currently in college to be an esthetician and the two normal responses I get from that are as followed: "What is that?", "Oh, so you know know you have to wax people, right?", and my personal favourite "EW, YOU HAVE TO TOUCH FEET?" And after I am finish shaking my head I tell them that I am aware and that estheticians not only paint nails, wax, and touch feet, but are also trained professionals in the health of the skin (which is the area that I someday hope to get into). I am a little more than half way through my first semester and I am loving it. I have never enjoyed going to school more and at this point I don't even consider it to be school anymore.

Aside from college, I am also working. I have been part-time at a clothing store in my local mall for almost two months now and it is a whirlwind experience, let me tell you. No one told me that working retail is doing 50 tasks at once, and still having to smile. It's a miracle that I have lasted this long, it makes me happy and miserable at the same time. Sometimes I feel like I'm in that game "Diner Dash" (If you don't know what I'm talking about, I don't know what you've been doing with your life). It has been fun so far though, I have been learning a lot about how to deal with different kinds of people, and the ins and outs of retail!

As far as some other things I've been up to, I went to the Fall Out Boy concert in Toronto back in September (It was fantastic and I will link a video below), and I recently got a new tattoo which holds a whole lot of meaning which I am going to post a blog post about in a couple days!

Here is a video of one of the many highlights of the concert, "Twenty Dollar Nosebleed" featuring Brendon Urie from Panic! at the Disco:

(video is not mine, credit to original uploader)

I hope you will all forgive me and allow me to figure out a posting schedule that works for me and I hope to hear from you soon!

Woman Crush Wednesday

To go along with Man Candy Monday, there is also "Woman Crush Wednesday" which I also want to include as part of my blog. So every other week I will be switching between the two, choosing the man or woman I think is most deserving of this honor. This week's WCW in honour of her VMA performance of her new single "Roar" (which she killed)  and in honour of her album "Prism" coming out October 22 is Katy Perry

I have always been a huge fan of Katy. I think she is always stunning, sweet, and an amazing performer, definitely in my top five favourite concerts I have ever attended so she is clearly the perfect candidate to receive my blogs first WCW.

She also wore a grill to the VMA's on Sunday, which wouldn't be my personal choice but oddly enough, she worked it.

Welcome back Katy, Pop music has missed you dearly

Who should be the next WCW? Tell me in the comments below.

I was nominated for something???

So I was nominated by Jennifer for the Liebster award which is an award that helps you discover new blogs (I had no idea there was such thing, but so cool!). So thanks and shout out to her for the nomination.

How it works?
Step 1: Answer the questions that you've been asked!
Step 2: Choose 11 more bloggers with under 200 followers!
Step 3: Ask those new 11 bloggers a set of 11 new questions!
Step 4: Contact those 11 bloggers and let them know that they have been tagged!

Here are my questions from Jennifer

1. What is your favourite book?
Looking for Alaska by John Green!
2. Do you have a pet if so, what is it and what is it called?
I have a dog named Domi and three cats named Otis, Charlie, and Mimi
3. What is your favourite beauty product?
Right now my favourite is Milani Brow Fix!
4. What has been your weirdest dream ever?
For some reason I never remember my dreams, but the last one I had was pretty odd. This girl (who doesn't like me) had bought my best friend concert tickets and it was a band she loved (in my dream, however in real life she doesn't even listen to) and my best friend went on about how this girl was a better best friend than me. It was just really weird.
5. What was your favourite childhood toy?
Probably Bratz dolls6. What kid are you (90s, 80s, 70s, 00s)?
I was born in '94 so I consider myself to be a 90's-00's kid7. Where is your favourite holiday destination?
Considering my family rarely travels and I have only been on a plane once I am going to say my dream destination and that is California8. Is there anything that you hate?
I can't think of anything! My nail polish is chipped though so I guess I can go with that.9. Do you want to get married?
If I ever get over my fear of commitment, yes I would love to!
10. Have you had a good summer?
I had a year-long summer because I took a year off before college, and it was fantastic. This summer, not so much.11. Post a selfie!

I have no good selfies, but this should suffice!

My eleven questions are
1. Who is your favourite band/ music artist?
2.What is one thing you can't live without?
3. Dream job?
4. What is your usual Starbucks order?
5. What is a relationship deal-breaker?
6.What is your holy grail beauty product? (something you love and keep going back to)
7.Do you have tattoos? (if yes, what and where. if no, what would you get)
8.Celebrity crush?
9. Why did you start blogging?
10. Name one fashion trend you find weird.
11. Do you collect anything?

I nominate the following:
Taylor (my best friend)

Kimberley

Emily

Suky

Sophie

Natalie

Nettie

Ava

Jasmin

Penny

Lily

Definelulu

Quote Monday

I think since Monday's are pretty dreary I would give you all a little quote to make things a little brighter.
credit

I found this picture on tumblr and really enjoyed it. It's simple and to the point. Don't worry about what other people think, if they care that much about you then they have way too much time on their hands anyway. Be considerate of others, be the bigger person, don't change for anyone but yourself. Make your own choices. Make your parents proud.

Be the best version of you that you can possibly be.

Mean Girls: A Rant.

Today friends, we talk about something that everyone will have to deal with in their life whether we like it or not, and that is mean people, specifically mean girls, because they are a whole new level of mean. We have all been mean girls in our lives but there are some who just won't quit and with my experience, there are a few types of mean girl.

1. The Once-Friend-Now-Enemy (Frienemie)
These are the kind of mean girl who you were friends with at one point but somewhere along the line, she completely turned on you for little or no reason at all. They have a grudge against you and there is nothing that you can do but smile and wave when you see her in public and pray that she doesn't bite your head off.

2. The Mind-trick
Similar to the frienemie but sneakier, these are the mean girls who you don't even realize are mean until way after. She could be your best friend, but at the same time make you feel inches tall. You just let her get away with it because she is your friend after all and wouldn't dare to do anything to hurt you, because that's what she told you. Even if everyone else can clearly see her true colours, you're blinded by her nice girl disguise.

3. The "I'm Better Than You"
These girls, usually popular, seem to think they have the world on a string. It's their world and we are all just living in it. They are usually mean due to the fact that they can get whatever they want, whenever they want it. This girl can never be happy with what they have and always want better.

4. The Friend Jumper
That one girl who can't seem to stay friends with someone for too long. She meets someone and they instantly click but then a couple months later, she claim to hate said friend and move on to someone new and keep repeating this cycle, sometimes even recycling when she runs out of people to be friends with

5. Eternal Mean Girl
The girl who seems to be stuck in high school and still thinks its cool to be malicious and hurtful. The girl who is bitter, but not sarcastic, and never has anything nice to say. She has her one group of friends that try to act like "The Plastics" but aren't cutting it. It's these girls who will have one group of friends their whole life and be curious as to why no one likes them.

Why are girls mean?
When girls hate on each other it's usually out of jealousy, because they either want to be more like them or want something that they have. They have a one track mind and the only thing on it is themselves and their well-being. All girls are mean, its just a matter of how mean they are to truly be considered as a mean girl. We have all said things about someone, its all a matter of perspective. True mean girls don't care about the feelings of others because in their mind, they are the only ones who matter.

How to avoid them?
You can't, they will always be there. Something you should always remember about these girls is that they are bullies and won't be going anywhere in life, they will always be mean. You do you. Be yourself and just don't let them bring you down because you are awesome.

Man Crush Monday: Nick Jonas

"Man Candy Monday" is something that happens frequently on Twitter and Instagram and I think it's something that I would like to do on here too. So to start it off I need to start with my one true love, Nick Jonas.

Who is he? Nick is the youngest of everyone's favourite former Disney trio, The Jonas Brothers.
Why love him? Well if his smile doesn't make you weak in the knees should I direct you to his recent Instagram post?

Also because he has the voice of an angel, plays not only guitar but piano and drums and loves his family.
He also doesn't look too bad in a baseball uniform.

Enjoy your Man Candy and come back to see who I choose for next week

Oops, I bought stuff?

Like most fashion/beauty blogs, I am going to be documenting the stuff that I buy, also known as "hauls" in the world of beauty gurus everywhere. And for my first haul I am going to show you a couple things I decided to buy after I paid for my college tuition (total a legit reason, do not judge me) I didn't but much because 1. I need this money for school and can't spend all of it and 2. I am not used to having all this money in my possession and it is frightening.

However, like most girls, I can not leave the mall without buying things and American Eagle also had a sale? So while I was wandering through the mall with my mom, we went into AE and I found a cute black crop top (it was $19.99 but was $10 when I got to the register) which is something I have been looking for *forever* . and this one was perfect. It wasn't super tight like most that I have seen and it wasn't too short, which is also something I have seen. so I had to try it on and it fit perfectly. I also found a pair of these high waisted shorts, similar to a pair I bought a few weeks prior which I loved, so I got those as well in a pinkish denim. They are called "high-waisted festival shorties" (normally $46 on for $20) and I first saw them back near the beginning of the summer in one of MeghanRosette's hauls (I adore her) and I fell in love.

The last thing I bought was a phone case from Aldo Accessories because I have an addiction, expect a post about my collection soon, It is a sideways picture of a cat with green eyes, and its super adorable and was only $12 so I figured I might as well.

And this ends my first haul, Hooray!

The Real Introduction

After months of not having a computer and thinking that an iPad would suffice I quickly discovered that i was sorely mistaken being sans computer for eight months, I decided that the first thing I would do after getting one would be to start blogging again because honestly, I missed it and it makes me happy.

So I welcome you all to my beauty/fashion/lifestyle/whatever blog in which I show you stuff that I have bought, give reviews, quick tips, and sometimes just ramble about whatever.

My name is Jess, I am nineteen years old, and I want to keep this blog throughout my college years to see how my inspirations change and how I change and develop as a person. This blog will take inspiration from other great bloggers who I love such as Elle Fowler, Zoella, and Lo Bosworth and the great Lauren Conrad. So you can expect a whole lot of girly goodness and I hope you care to stick around because I'm only getting started and have a whole lot of ideas and a big project I'm hoping to make announcements about super soon so stay tuned!
